Independent Representative and Voice of Business of Tigray State

	Press Release   Tigray Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (TCCSA), is an autonomous, private sector institution and membership based is non-profit oriented and regional development targeted organization dedicated to protect and develop the interest of the business community. It is the “independent representative and voice of business of Tigray State” and it ensures that this voice is heard where it matters – where it is necessary to protect the interests of business, at local, regional and national levels. Tigray Chamber of commerce and Sectoral Associations has held its 2nd General Assembly on May 31, 2009 in Milano Hotel, Mekelle. TCCSA has held its first general assembly in 2006.

Members of TCCSA are City Chamber and Sectoral Associations, Regional Sectoral Association and Wereda Sectoral Associations. Currently, there are 6,692 members of TCCSA which comprises from City Chambers and Sectoral Associations and Regional Sectoral Associations.

There were 124 representatives from 13 Chambers and Regional Sectoral Association. The 2nd General Assembly has been officially opened by Mrs. Fetlework Gebregziabiher, Head of Bureau of Tigray Regional Trade, Industry and Transport. On her opening speech, she states that the government is dedicated for long relationship with the private sector. She emphasises for the readiness of the government to work together with TCCSA.

 In the General Assembly two years report, amended bylaw/article of association, five year strategic plan, audit report (external auditor) of TCCSA has been presented. The representative participants of the General Assembly have discussed on the above issues in detail and have endorsed it.

Finally, the General Assembly has elected eleven (11) new boards of directors, and president and vice president. Accordingly, Mr. Muluwork Kidanemariam has been elected as President of TCCSA for the second term, and Mr. Gebrehiwot G/egziabiher as Vice President.
